If I Was A Song Today

I would be this one from David Gray

Here are the words he’s singing for those who’d like to read or sing along. It’s really the marriage of words and music that make this song so painfully beautiful for me. And I’ve been under that cloud more often than I’d like to say.

Thanks for asking Shellie.

“This Years Love”

This years love had better last
Heaven knows it’s high time
And I’ve been waiting on my own too long
But when you hold me like you do
It feels so right
I start to forget
How my heart gets torn
When that hurt gets thrown
Feeling like you can’t go on

Turning circles when time again
It cuts like a knife oh yeah
If you love me got to know for sure
Cos it takes something more this time
Than sweet sweet lies
Before I open up my arms and fall
Losing all control
Every dream inside my soul
And when you kiss me
On that midnight street
Sweep me off my feet
Singing ain’t this life so sweet

This years love had better last
This years love had better last

So whose to worry
If our hearts get torn
When that hurt gets thrown
Don’t you know this life goes on
And won’t you kiss me
On that midnight street
Sweep me off my feet
Singing ain’t this life so sweet

This years love had better last
This years love had better last
This years love had better last
This years love had better last

I’m old. I’m dense. I can’t understand the words!! hahaha! Sad but true. I sound like my grandma there. *embarrassed* But I can’t understand the chorus well enough to even look it up on a lyrics site! Hook me up with the title of that tune so I can look up the words, Brian!

(And thanks a lot for putting up this supercoolhip video that makes me feel so dang OLD! ~_^)

Haha. I’ll post the words. I was just writing about misheard words…

Man, I’m glad I didn’t write down what I THOUGHT the opening words and chorus were! hahaha! I wasn’t even close. (Thought maybe he was singing in Canadian or something. ~_^) I used to always mock Katie because she was famous for mangling song lyrics. Guess I’m following in my sister’s footsteps in my old age. Actually, I couldn’t even come up with words for most of the song. Perfectly understandable once you know what the words are though. Thanks for sharing the words. (But now I’m kinda melancholy … sad tune and visuals! We need to find you something a little more up-beat. 🙂

Off beat is more me. 😉
