What have you done? (copy & bold your own) pt. 3

The list continues. There are a total of 150 things. It’ll wrap up soon.

Here we go…

42. Had amazing friends
I have amazing friends and have had amazing friends. I’m so introverted though that I don’t do well with a lot of friends at once. And I’m not and haven’t ever been a really great friend. It’s one of the things I think is very deficient about me and I’d love to see change. The truth is that I can be oblivious to much of what goes on around me when I’ve got something on my mind (which is often) and could walk right by a good friend without saying ‘hi’ because it never registered with my brain that I saw them. Could be an undiagnosed medical condition…
43. Danced with a stranger in a foreign country
44. Watched wild whales
From a boat off Cape Cod with my family. I blogged about it. Would have preferred to swim with them or tried to ride one. That would’ve been brilliant!
45. Stolen a sign
When I was younger my family lived near a facility that took care of roads in the area. There were piles of gravel, cinders, and giant empty wooden spools from cable/wire. I would sneak back there with friends (not saying who because the statute of limitations never runs out with your parents) and we would break in and take road signs, giant empty wooden spools and the occasional porn magazine we found laying around the office. Tried a raid in the middle of the day once to build up fort in the woods. Didn’t really go well. Got spotted hiding behind a pile of cinders and chases by two sumo wrestlers back into the woods. I ran straight into a briar patch but was so scared of getting caught I didn’t slow down. Lost a lot of blood but I got away. I think that was my last raid.
46. Backpacked in Europe
47. Taken a road-trip
Blogged about one of the best with my friend Don/John that included getting high off second hand pot smoke at a Kansas concert and witnessing the ‘then’ implosion of his relationship with the woman who would eventually become his wife.
48. Gone rock climbing
In the Black Hills of South Dakota. I must’ve weighed at least 80 pounds less than I do now. Some of the most fun I’ve ever had. I think I like a little danger mixed in with my recreation to keep it interesting.
49. Midnight walk on the beach
50. Gone sky diving
I’ve gone to go sky diving twice. About 3 years ago I took the course, went through the practice on the ground and then when it came time to fly the cloud cover was too low and they cancelled the jump. Went back several weeks later and the wind was too strong. I decided that it might be God trying to save me from my own stupidity and I haven’t tried again.
51. Visited Ireland
I started blogging with Cracked Virtue when we returned from Northern Ireland/Ireland. I was inspired by the whole country and the people there. It’s probably the first place I’d choose to live if I wasn’t living on PEI any more. Our big plan, if we can come up with the cash, is to spend our 25th wedding anniversary there next August. We spent a day in Dublin that we’d like to turn into a few days and we’d like to see a little more of the south as well as return to the Giant’s Causeway and spent a few days in Belfast.
52. Been heartbroken longer than you were actually in love
53. In a restaurant, sat at a stranger’s table and had a meal with them
54. Visited Japan
55. Milked a cow

    42. I have had a few who know me very well and still like me anyway. The feeling is mutual.
    45. I was catching and there was a runner on third base. I stole the sign from the third base coach and knew there was a squeeze play on. I called for a high pitch and the batter missed the ball.
    46. I wouldn’t call it backpacking, but camping in remote places and hiking was fun.
    47. Several of them, but the most fun was when I took one with my youngest sister when she was in high school. Visited two far-away colleges. Okay, one of them was because our other sister was there.
    49. With my wife, on our honeymoon. It was great.
    53. All the other tables were full.
    55. Lived on a farm when I was four years old and the farmer next door let me help.

    45. hid it in my parent’s basement, may have caused a lot of accidents, it was a one way sign
    47. just got back from a long one
    48. that one is on my “bucket list”
    49. Great Slave Lake N.W.T, it doesn’t get all that dark there in the summer
    51. one day I hope to, where’s that passport application
    55. spent most of my youth playing “dodge the tail” snuggled up to Bessie and her friends

  4. BrianD says:

For about a year and a half, we lived on a farm in New Market, TN. There was a farmer who had built a new second home on his farm, and we rented their original home. He grew tobacco, food crops, and had dairy cows. He was a busy man indeed, but not too busy to show a curious four year-old how to be a junior farmer. It was a fun place to live.

I don’t think “going to go skydiving” counts as actually skydiving. You should unbold that. It’s insulting to those of us who took the course with you but actually went through with it. 🙂

  6. brianmpei says:

You’re right Shelley, I’ll unbold it right away…
